Hi, I found this forum while browsing for Jeff Buckley. Recently I read a recommendation on "Ours", IMHO quite an underrated New Jersey based band who they said has a very similar voice to the late Buckley.
Well, I searched around and ransacked CD shops around, from the 2ndhands to the HMV - but no luck. So I resort to internet, and found only a few of their songs.
So this is just my opinion based on listening to a select few of their songs (they are seriously difficult to get).
The singer (Gnecco) indeed has a voice that reminds you not only of Jeff, but also of Bono IMHO. Amazing vocal range and falsetto - but I'd say Gnecco's voice is not as pretty/ whimsical... it's easier to pigeonhole Gnecco's voice into rock than Jeff's (I can't pigeonhole Jeff's). But that said, Ours seems to be worth checking out, and I plan to find/ order their CDs (.
Anyway, I read previous post mentioning "Ours" too

hey if you like jeff buckley check out "ours"
their singer was jeff buckley's guitar technician while he was on tour, and their stuff sounds very similar, although he hates being compared to jeff. i heard of them at field day

I'm not sure whether my information is correct or not, but I read his interview online from here
http://www.angelfire.com/music3/Ours.../Aquarian.html
and he said this:
Quote:
Jeff and I as singers had the same influences. I think what I liked the most about Jeff were the things that he brought out that were basically the same things as my original influences.
He did his own thing, but you can$B!G(Bt fake what that is. That$B!G(Bs why I fell in love with Jeff. He became a close friend. I was influenced by him as well to an extent. But we were also influenced by K.D. Lang, Freddie Mercury, Elvis, Roy Orbison, it just goes on.
Part of the problem is that unfortunately right now nobody wants to step up and sing anymore. So when an in-depth singer comes along who really likes to put it all on the line, it$B!G(Bs easy to compare him to someone else because there are so few of us.
You$B!G(Bve got Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Bono (U2), PJ Harvey, and Chris Cornell (Rage Against The Machine?). There$B!G(Bs a few others, but like no one really wants to write great songs and sing in key anymore.
The times are gone, sometimes I think, where you can do something really pretty and then really explosive. Jeff was really good at that.
I$B!G(Bm going to clear something up that$B!G(Bs turned into this big old rumor that follows me around. Like I said, Jeff and I became friends, and one night he was running late to a show. He asked me to take his guitar in a cab to a show for him. Somewhere it started getting around that I was his roadie. How ridiculous is that? I took a guitar to one show one time for the guy. I don$B!G(Bt know$B!D(BI guess I just try and write good songs.

I don't know whether he's the one who got wrongly the Chris Cornell being in RATM or the interviewer though :P
Anyway, I would really love to hear everyone's recommendation on music - Jeff has left quite a void that's rather difficult to fill. I read someone mentioning Iota - mind recommending me an album please?
BTW Jeff's Legacy Edition Live in Sin-E is amazing - intimate interaction, and Jeff feels so alive here...
