Electro Jazz?

Anyone know of some good elctro-jazz bands they would like to share with me? I really like St Germain with tourist, but would like something a little more experimantal and laidback? Not too many vocals please

Thanks for hitting me with a link tatoine, but I don`t know french tho . Never the less I saw three albums mentioned, I have the Jazzanova album and it`s really good, and Chris Bowden`s work seemed cool (laxing) and nice; I`ll hear more when I get to a store.

thanks, and welcome to the board!

Hi all, been to the record shop this nice sunny day and brought home some cds including Bugge Wesseltoft`s New Conseption of Jazz ; Sharing . This is right on the spot of what I wanted to hear, dropped the beach and been laxing to the nice music instead There`s no doubt in my mind that we have a big man in jazz here where I come from.
And thanks for all suggestions, have spent some time on their respective sites......

Hi again, just want you to know that Jaga Jazzist`s new album The Stix is out now, cutting edge and very experimental, every one interested in this thread should take a listen to that album!

I can see you nice people have laid some more suggestions on the table . So let me give my impressions on the works :

Tosca : No this isn`t electro jazz, but good thing I also like trip hop, as this was a interesting one. Mellow, funky and playful, good chance I`m picking Suzuki up on my next visit to the record store.

Cinematic Orcestra : I`ve really missed a gem from Ninja Tune hmmm.
My experience is that the quality of electro-jazz done the trip hop way can vary alot. I have the compilation album Nu Jazz, and I can hear they are trying to make what I want to hear, but they just don`t have that talent you must have to make such music.
This group has got it though, I can hear that just from listening to those 30 sec from amazon. It is very similar to Amon Tobin in quality and style but much more laid back..... so that`s just great

Koop and Gilles Peterson : For my ears, this is too vocal.

Herbie Hancock : From what I found he seems to be doing traditional jazz and funk, not my taste yet, but maybe one day

Long live electro jazz !

in regards to the cinematic orchestra... i REALLY like their instrumental stuff... but i find the vocal stuff a little too over the top... another band worth checking out is the xploding plastix... they're a little more electronic than jaga jazzist but i'd say equally as good... at the very least check out a track called 'treat me mean i need the reputation'

I also wanted to point to Bugge Wesseltoft (highly recommeded), but Haakon already did.... damn (good music).

Check also out: Dimitri from Paris (mixes some good stuff using a lot of jazz samples), Hacienda, Particle (a bit more rock jazz astro fusion...), Corduroy (great sounds - check out their Motorhead cover)

For more musical inspiration check out http://pogo.twellnet.com

Best, Chris
