Hello, i have a Marantz hi-fi set, but the turntable sounds not so loud as the rest (so that i always have to turn the volume UP a lot). How comes ? Is it normal ?

did you hook up the turntable right? I have no problem with my US$20 bucks turntable from a thrift store. I did have some problems with the ground wire, but not anymore.

I have the same problem with my cassette deck but I don't care cause i dont' use it that much any more. my cassette deck is technics and the amplifier is JVC. I think it has to do with having different components from different brands and that probably would create volume difference, sorry, don't have the technical terms to describe the problem. but u know what i mean, right?

Yeah it could be the ground wire not being connected. That's happened to me before and when the wire was put in it played at a higher volume.

It sounds like it's the connection though.

Have you got an amp?

Look at the simple things first.

As line level signals are generally not strong enough to drive even the lowest wattage speakers, I greatly dout that Haldol could bypass the amp. What way is your turn-table commected to the HI FI, Is it a built in one or is it connected with leads?

P.S what is the model of the turntable and HI-FI ?

it is connected with leads, all separate elements go to the amp. Everything Marantz.

Are the leads well connected? Have you tried replacing the leads?

I think I know your problem. Did you by chance connect you turntables to the AUX? If so, you need to either connect them to the PHONO line or buy a PHONO to AUX converter. This is because the PHONO line boosts the sound in by 20 decibles for the turntables so anything going into the PHONO line is really loud. This also means that if you plug a turntable into another line, it's going to be quiet, hence your problem.

Tell us if it worked or not.

Oh yeah...some turntables are made to go into the AUX line...it should be printed underneith.
