Music always reflects the times and the moods of people. I think we live in a very shallow age, and that shows in the most popular music and other forms of entertainment as well. I wonder if down the road a few years, if the world's political situation continues in its present slide towards instability (especially with the threat of terrorism), if there might be a deepening of popular art as there was in the mid to late 60s. Unfortunately, it seems that great music seems to be born from hard times and adversity, but the jury's still out on whether that will be the case next time around.

First let me say that you seem like a cool guy, I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but.......

Are you that shallow? I feel sorry for you. I'll pray that you become rich, cause it sounds like money is your God, and you'd be in hell if you're not rich, right?
I'm motivated by money. I'll admit it. But there's more to life than that my friend......
Money does not buy hapiness, and only materialistic, shallow, people say things like that. If you have one arm, and you win the lottery, can you buy a real arm? No. If you have Herpes, or used to get molested by your retard uncle, does the money make those painful experiences go away? NO.....
Yeah, that's a bit extreme, but money only affords you a SHORT-TERM hapiness. Possesions are fleeting..........

I wasn't saying that *I* believe that money will make me happy, but you can't deny that the bulk of the population IS that shallow, because otherwise, why would we live in such a consumerist world?

In the context of my theory here, the reason that there wasn't such a glut of disposable pop stars in the mid-80s for example is because people couldn't afford to buy into the marketing bonanza that goes along with it as much as they could in the late 90s, thus economics drives the marketing side of entertainment, which unfortunately generally drives the talent side of entertainment.

Does this mean that ATM the rubbishy pop will die, 'cos the music industry is being battered. Let's hope so ...
