Little Richard
Possibly the greatest character in the history of popular music? To my mind, he is the "Great Creator, Originator, Emancipator, Entertainer" of Rock music, and pretty much established what R&B was.

What I've heard of Little Richard I like - very flamboyant, very much a performer. "Long Tall Sally" "Good Golly Miss Molly" and "Tutti Frutti" beyond hearing these occasionally I don't know too much about him. What CD of his do you suggest I pick up, DrKatz?

Little Richard's approach to vocals was so unique that it influenced just about everything that came after him. Paul McCartney certainly credits Little Richard with having a profound influence on his vocal style. Jimi Hendrix based his guitar innovations on trying to get out of the electric guitar what Little Richard got out of his voice.
Among the founders of rock 'n' roll, I think Little Richard was the person who really "created" rock 'n' roll as a singing style.

There aren't really Little Richard "albums" except for greatest hits stuff because the nature of the recording industry in the 50s only released singles.
if you're looking for a compilation of his stuff, then look for the following in addition to the songs mentioned:
Devil With A Blue Dress
Have Some Fun Tonight
Lucille
Ready Teddy
Rip It Up
Lawdy Miss Clawdy
You Make Me Wanna Shout
Slippin and Slidin
