Path of Sorrows was good. It was the only non-live album Rozz did after reforming Christian Death. It's got William Faith on it from Faith in the Muse, who was also a member of Mephisto Waltz for a while. Actually for that matter he played with the Sex Gang Children for a short spell too. I haven't heard it yet, but the brand new Faith in the Muse is supposed to be a shout back to the Deathrock Days. The second album is my favorite, although the third is good too.

First of all I really want to say, in spite of the poll results, Goth is DEAD; it's really and truly gone. Sure there are still a few folks here and there who dress 'goth' and there are even clubs which cater to that kind of crowd; but the energy that powered the goth movement has long since disapeared. But speaking of Goth-Industrial, there was a time when the 2 scenes were distinct, even though they did overlapped. But by the late 1990s, they became integrated into one scene.
Nowadays however, it's the industrial dance scene that remains; go to any goth club and that is what you'll hear. The Industrial dance thing is pretty much club oriented, whereas goth was more of a lifestyle.

Zanthu, all I have to say to that is: You live in ****ing Seattle. Seattle has a joke for a scene, I know because I have friends up there in the Seattle "Goth scene" and they say it's a joke. Come down to Texas and I'll show you ten goth bands in Dallas that aren't Industrial in the slightest. Hell go to Europe, in Spain they have one of the biggest Goth scenes in the world. I had some musician friends recently move there because there's more of a market for their musc there. Germany is hoppin' too. Most of the american goth or deathrock bands go to Europe to tour and don't do anything in most of the US. Just because you got stuck with a cheese dick scene doesn't mean goth is dead. Dead in Seattle, yes. Dead in Florida, hell yes. Dead in Berlin and Madrid? **** no. I'm not trying to be mean by the way.

I have heard likewise that Goth is very popular in Europe, ESPECIALLY Eastern and Southern Europe. But personally I miss the days when goth and industrial were seperate scenes 'cos personally I'm sick to death of industrial[especially industrial danse!]. On that note industrial has evolved from experimental electronic with a metallic, abrasive texture to punkrock/metal with a techno beat to this technotrance stuff[sick of techno/house/trance and all that bullshit too]. Goth sort of reached its peak in the US exactly 5 years ago, but it started to decline in the aftermath of the Columbine shootings.

Re:goth

Now speaking of goth bands, a few of my favorites are This Ascension and Sunshine Blind, both from the california ethereal music scene. But the greatest goth band I have ever heard is one called ****/Off System; a now defunct goth band from Hungary. A Friend from europe sent me a tape of them, apparently they have released only one album back in 1991. Probably the DARKEST goth band ever....

One of my favorite defunct Euro dark bands has always been the Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud. They're kinda along the same vein as Current 93 or Death in June. Most of their albums haven't been in print for years, but I've found a few of them. They're from Austria/Hungry by way of Switzerland. Sunshine Blind came through last year and my band was asked to open for them for some goth fest. My upright bass player was out of town on his solo tour of the British Isles. Can't say I'm a big fan, but they got their place.

The only goth I've ever been interested in is The Cure, and as far as I'm concerned, that's all that matters.
