I see you are from Australia...whats the scene like out there? The only bands I have ever listened to from there are the living end and frenzal rhomb. Do any of the bands from the US ever tour there? Probably a stupid question, but I really don't know.

i'm from australia too.
i'm going to an all-out punk gig this sunday, hopefully.
there's an awesome local emo/screamo band called crimson hellkite. another awesome punk band i like from australia is called Irrelevant . you might like One Dollar Short ...i don't like them. there's also Something With Numbers ....umm, who else? Area7 (i don't like them though). Jebediah (i think you'd call them punk). there's endless small-time punk bands, but i won't put them all here.

i'd put the links to the bands sites, but i'm in my computer class and i can't be on the internet for too long otherwise my teacher will catch me. i'm supposed to be making a some program.[

Area 7 are more ska and Jebediah are a rock band with a lead singer that sounds like a cat's being strangled.

AC/DC and Men at Work are really old by the way.

So if Emo is "emotional"? rock....
This genre is gonna be like "alternative" was back in the early 90's. And the site I saw that had the Emo way to dress on it, was just as bad as an Old Navy commercial. There shouldn't be any particular way to dress to fit in anywhere. It should be about the music. Sayin' I gotta have black hair, glasses, and thrift store clothes, is like me gettin' a crappy job and someone says I gotta go to Old Navy at the mall and get a certain look. That "movement" is gonna get so commercial, that it kills itself.

emo is riding on the same wave as this so-called 'garage revival,' which for me at least has already run its course (by the time the ****ing datsuns released their debut, it was over). Emo can be good only when the PR flaks at SPIN mislabel a good band as 'emo' because its a convenient buzzword. i think that the slogan says it all CHEER UP EMO KID

.. "My friend once asked me, "Whats punk?" I replied, "Punk isn't all just about the music, its a way of life." She looked confused.. so I kicked over a trashcan and said, "Thats punk." She then kicked over a trash can and asked, "Is that punk?" I said to her, "No, thats trendy."

oh man.. i can never get enough of that quote.

and yeah label's suck, someone was like.. so what do you consider yourself? emo? punk? i was like um. i'm katie....
