looking for some new talented rock
My girlfriend is really into the indie rock stuff like the killers and vampire weekend and stuff like that. I however cant really stand most of it. Im looking for something that still has good solos and guitar riffs. something kind of heavy. I like alice in chains, pearl jam and all the popular grunge bands and i can stand silversun pickups and manchester orchestra

I'd just like to add that Vampire Weekend annoys the crap out of me. I really find that kind of fluff difficult to listen to, so I cringe when we get requests for it at the bar. Granted, I've never heard an entire album all the way through (I'm usually asleep or rushing to turn it off by the end of the third track).

Check out the new band called chickenfoot, with Joe Satriani on the guitar and Sammy hagar on the vocals.

They're almost as annoying as Vampire Weekend, but in an entirely different way.

Well, you may like Morphine (I always recommend this band). They aren't new, and in fact broke up a few years ago when the singer/bassit Mark Sandman ODed. Try their album Cure for Pain first.

I am sure everyone who has been around here long enough knows Morphine/ Cure for Pain is your go to recommendation. I wouldn't be surprised if on occasion....you don't wake up from sleeping saying Morphine and Cure for Pain.
