I'm going to list a few subjectively important releases that may or may not be 'landmarks' in their genre depending, I suppose, on your exposure to other genres before having heard them.

Gridlock - Further

Gridlock sort of opened up the door on what you could do with that tired old 'industrial' sound. Dirty, heavy and very beautiful all at once. 'Trace' and 'Formless' are also outstanding releases of theirs but I guess this would be the start of that series.

Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Született

This was one of the first interesting things I've heard from any 'breakcore' artist in a long while. Classical strings (sampled mostly) integrated brilliantly with some hard and broken beats.

Autechre - Tri Repetae

In almost the opposite way that Gridlock turned industrial into IDM, Autechre turned 'IDM' into something nearly industrial. Cold, rigid beats and bleeps with some of their best melodies.

Gotta run, I'll add to this list later.

I'm a fan of Brian Eno, and even though I've heard a great part of his discography and collaborations, I still haven't heard that one. Thanks for the recommendation.
