The best live recorder to buy?

Does anyone have a portable live sound recorder that they've gotten especially good quality? Is there any acknowledged model that's the strongest intersection of price, quality, portability and durability?

Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

A friend of mine just picked up the Back Track with Mic, from line 6. This thing kicks ass and lists for around $149. I will uploaded a jam we recorded with it(ETZ plays Samba), so you can hear what it sounds like. We set it up outside the door of the room we were playing in and hit record. Then you just grab the music via USB. It also works as a kind of flash drive as well.

it's all about the microphone, from what i've discovered. a lot of recorders can give you the 16 or 20 bit sound and whatnot, but if you want the right sounds coming in, a good mic is what you want.
