This is really just a warning to my fellow RM`ers, don`t be naive like me and think IPods are the same. I have a 2G nano that I really like, but I felt the need to not compromise my music listening by how much space it leaves for music. So I bought the new IPod classic just over an hour ago, with 120GB of space. Right from the start I heard something was wrong. I am no audiophile, but I have decent plugs (Jays q-jays) and my mini is crisp and lively, while the Classic was not even comparable with these plugs. It`s thin, REALLY low on power, and yet it reveals noise in production which you don`t really want to do on a low end product...arrrgh! It is nothing else than unusable when you are used to a previous generation IPod.
While I tested I noticed I couldn`t turn down the sound to near mute (not even close), so I thought something was wrong with mine. But when I searched I found both cases had been reported by others. Even some measures : http://homepage.mac.com/marc.heijlig...surements.html
So this is just a warning and a needed rant from me. Don`t even go near the new IPods with Cirrus Logic Audio Codec Chip!!!
Mines already on sale to some poor unknowing fella.
