This has been driving me crazy

ive heard this song in my friends car a long time ago and neither of us can figure it out. its rock, maybe alternative

it begins with something like "...and you were standing int he crowd (then something i cant understand)"
then the chorus goes something like "Heeey Heeey Heeey" this is sang by the crowd and hearing it i have a vision of throwing a fist up with the heys.

any ideas whould be appriciated

It's not alternative but Springsteen has a song with similar lyrics called Kansas City.

Was it a live recording or a studio recording? The crowd thing makes me think it's live.
