Recommend me some new rock

I'm behind the times with rock these days and don't like most of what I hear getting played on the radio so I usually leave it off. I'm sick of seeing posters for the kings of leon, kaiser chiefs, and annoying emo bands like fallout boy et al. I figure there must be lots of good rock I'm missing out on. Please enlighten me.

If you're tired of the whole emo movement, and I don't blame you if you are, I would check out The Trews. They're definitely rock-oriented, but they have an interesting take on the genre. It's worth checking out, for sure; this is the time to get on this bandwagon, because apparently they've literally just started getting big in the 'States...apparently they're from somewhere in Canada (and let's face it, it's not as though Canada has produced really awesome stuff in the past -- I mean, Bryan Adams??)...it's nice to see our neighbours to the North start to produce something interesting.

Check this out:

^ That first cut is like Hootie & The Blowfish by way of Train.

I like his vocal on the second cut, even if it sounds like an outtake from an Audioslave record.

On to cut #3...jeez, these guys can't decide which band they want to sound like.

#4 - I didn't like Goo Goo Dolls the first time around.

I'm done.

Because you are not specifying any style or anything; and assuming you haven't heard much either, I will just mention a few rock bands I enjoy and have been significant for this decade:

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Animal Collective
TV on the Radio
Arcade Fire
Explosions in the Sky

There are plenty more...

I don't know if anyone's really mentioned being into them here, but I really dig everything Aloha has put out.

Here's a fan vid w/ a track example:

I like that too but isn't it VERY Joydivisionish?

I find Animal Collective to be truly horrible. I'd rather listen to Spice Girls reunion.

It is an obvious case joy division worship (with clear influences from other bands as well) but I don't think that takes away from it being a noteworthy album in it's own right. It does retain a respectful degree of originality despite the borrowed sounds also.

I FUCKING HATE THE TREWS!!!!

YOU WERE FUCKING READY TO GO 5 FUCKING YEARS AGO.
GO THE FUCK AWAY ALREADY
STOP TRYING TO COME BACK

just like that goddamned 'steal my fucking sunshine' piece of fucking dog shit from 10 years ago by len. the trews are another one hit wonder of canadian embarrassment that got shoved down everyone's collective throats for the bulk of 2004 with their shit single 'i'm not ready to GOOOoooooo!'. they came across like an aborted buttfuck of the barenaked ladies and sloan.

fuck their fucking shit.
