audioinflux - Welcome to the forums. There's a number of first-rate albums on your list, I'm particularly a fan of Speak No Evil (one of my very favorites for jazz) and A Love Supreme. The thing is most people around here have been posting for years and our favorite albums have either been gone over tons of times or would just seem arbitrary since everyone knows each other's taste anyway. I've actually never posted a list of fifteen favorite albums, jazz or otherwise, so I might make one up later to see what you think. I'm about to run out the door, but I might get to it later tonight. Hopefully you'll come back, we'd love to have you posting around here, particularly (speaking for myself) because you're a jazz fan. There's a lot to be learned around here, if you do searches through the RM backlogs you'll find tons of posts/information on most of the musicians from your list, and there's always more opinions/knowledge/etc. being spread.

A second the sentiment that it's a respectable list.

Respectable? Jamiroquai above A Love Supreme?

I'm pretty sure there's some Jamiroquai song(s), possibly from the 80s, that I know, but I'm not sure which or how many there are. audioinflux is clearly down with some of the good stuff, I'm not gonna judge by what else is on there that I'm not familiar with.
Edit: Ok, looked up Jamiroquai, I didn't recognize any of their material but it's certainly not what I'm into. Certainly couldn't see myself putting anything of their even in the same league as the worst Coltrane recording, but nonetheless...to each his own, if someone is down with quality recordings by Wayne Shorter I'm willing to at least listen to what they have to say.

That's a good point. That's an album that shouldn't be anywhere near anyone's top 100. Still, there's some great stuff on that list.

Ok, so 8 of them are not Jazz and 5 of that 8 are sheeeeeit!....however, did it cross the Grasshoppa's minds that he/she might not have noticed this is RM's Jazz Forum?
Having said that....the 7 Jazz recordings he/she did include are good to Essential. Even beginners can name check DA COLTRANE's ALS and Giant Steps....but I give him/her points for knowing Speak No Evil.

Hold on, I'm not making any assumptions here ( ), just trying to logic this out...I know you and a few other members around here aren't big fans of Kid A, but is that one of the albums you're referring to as sheeeeeittt? I personally love that album, if this is the case I didn't realize you thought that lowly of it. And it's possible, but I don't see it as likely that they didn't notice they were posting in the jazz forum...I mean, there aren't a lot of ways to end up in here (if any) without clicking on the link that says "Jazz."
And yeah, Speak No Evil isn't a record that typically shows up with people just dipping their toes. And although they aren't as essential when it comes to listening, George Benson and Kenny Garrett aren't exactly huge names either.
