It would look really odd... like some world music band or something.

Most mainstream music is created with the intent of making the music accessible. The artist tries to write songs that will catch the interest of as many people as possible by dumbing it down.

Why are there so many teeny boppers that like Avenged Sevenfold? All they need is 5 seconds of the chorus to understand what the artist is trying to convey. These bands aren't interested in making music that takes intelligence or patience to understand. There is no deeper level. It's a cheap thrill ride. You don't have to think.

No one really gives a shit if the band plays in front of 10 people, or in front of 10,000. If you are suggesting that people who dislike the new Mastodon album dislike it only because its popular, you are very wrong.

There are plenty of albums highly regarded on this site that would be considered mainstream. Its always been about the quality of the music.

personally i don't care if people don't like the albulm. This has never been my problem i can understand how people don't because remission doesnt even sound like the same band as crack the skye. I'm just trying to argue that just because mastodon's music has changed doesn't mean they sold out. Their music isn't anything like avenged sevenfold chorus's its actually thought out and more than just catchy. I don't know if you were trying to make that comparrison or not.

1. Unless I missed it....only one person said they're only in it for the money, now.

2. Even then....is there really a need to insult or be rude to anyone? Grasshoppa Geryon for example has dropped a great deal of knowledge on you in several of the threads you started requesting bands/musicians/recordings.

possibly, but when i saw tortoise they had 2 drum kits front and center and it looked awesome. it was great to actually be able to see what the drummer(s) was(were) doing.

I may be the only one here who thinks this but...

I think Crack The Skye is a step down for Mastodon. I would take Leviathian or Blood Mountain anyday over this album. It's just so inaccessable, I tried listening to it about 5-6 times and just could not get into it. I consider myself a fan of the group but I expected a lot more from this effort.

lol, I only read one page back. Just seems to me that most people on the average seem to think it's Mastodon's best work. I just don't get it.
