How to get a film sponsorship from walmart?
How to get a film sponsorship from walmart? I am currently working on making a film that shows the struggles of spanish speakers in small town, USA. I plan to visit local stores and restaurants, speak spanish to them, and see whether they are equipped to handle it.
I've been trying to get walmart to sponsor it. I've called my local stores, and if they understand what I'm talking about, they give me the 1800 walmart number. When I call there, i'm told that sponsorships are given directly from local stores.
Can anyone give me the real deal on who i need to talk to?

If I were you I'd try to get sponsors who're naturally closer to what your film is about, before talking to Walmart or Target. Once you have a few sponsors onboard, it'll be easier and more lucrative for others to join in.
Just ask around. Try every company in your area you can think of. You'll be using a phone alot and sending many emails, that's for sure.
But as you might imagine, finding sponsorship these days isn't an easy thing to do.

first off any type of creative solicitation NEEDS to be made on paper through legal channels. you cannot get around this. NO ONE will give you a substantial amount of money otherwise. it's to protect both parties from copyright issues down the road. if you don't have a valid business plan or proposal as to the financial worth of your finished product they will not provide you with financial assistance.
besides, why would walmart sponsor a film that will likely make them look bad?

Wal-mart might be a tough sell mate. Are there other options at sponsorship? Maybe start with some local business. If you check your local Chamber of Commerce website, they will have a list of businesses. You could start there.

Not Wal-Mart. They like to lock their Spanish speakers in at night...

I'm sure you would have to talk to someone at corporate. They probably have some kind of foundation set up for such things.

Re:
Wal-Mart is concerned with it's public and corporate image from the word go. Of course you will get the run-around until they figure that you will get tired and quit.
The company is not what it was when Sam and Bud Walton were in at one time they took the forfront in freedom of speach.
