Goa

Are their any people here who listen to Goa? I would like to hear the opinion on this from someone who isn't a complete eccentric hippie.

I'm not posting this to complain that we've already had threads for this, especially since the electronic forum doesn't get a lot of activity but this thread might help -

What other electronic music do you like Gluesniffer?

I don't know much about electronic music, but one thing I seem to like is acid. Do you know anything about it?

I also like drum 'n bass but think it's probably too repetitive to really listen to.

Yeah, I enjoy acid from time to time though I prefer listening to acid when its fused with IDM or breakcore. You might want to try Exillon's album "It's OK to Dance" or Luke Vibert's "Lover's Acid". Aphex Twin also has a lot of great acid material.

What drum and bass artists have you heard? Alot of them can be repetitive, though there are exceptions. You might want to try some breakcore if you find drum and bass too repetitive. It's got the beats of drum and bass and jungle but with a little more intensity and variation as well as influences from numerous other genres (mash up, industrial, house, etc.). Check out Run War by Enduser - it's kind of the album between his more raw sound heard in From Zero and his less abrasive sound in the albums from Calling the Vultures on.

As far as drum 'n bass goes, I don't know much about it. I once saw DJ Hype live and liked it but that could have had to with some chemical help.

I like Lover's Acid and am still in the process of downloading Run War.

Let me know what you think of Run War, and definitely check out that Exillon album.

As for Goa, I like 1200 Micrograms.

check out afx and the tuss and stuff on rephlex. Look for the analord releases (im listening to analord 7 right now) by afx and you shouldnt be disapointed.

Meatbeat Manifesto has some sounds you might enjoy as well.

It's good, and so is the genre breackcore, never checked this out before.

Acid can be a bit more raw than lover's Acid to my taste, though.

Could you say something more about those exceptions to repetitive drum 'n bass?

Also, more breackcore hints would be welcome.
