If you don't really care for that album, you most likely won't like anything else he's put out. He's gotten more viral and dirty after said album. You're into metal, so you might enjoy the latter ones as well.
I've heard every album he's done and I realize the difference between those albums and the albums I mentioned which is actually the reason why I recommended them, so he gets a taste of both poles on the OVS spectrum .

Thanx both Geryon and Equinox. I'll check out first "8000 BC" first and if I like it, I'll go with your suggestions.

Yeah, see the thing is you guys are all thoroughly educated Autechre listeners, I'm speaking from the standpoint of just having heard Tri Repetae, which I really love. I'm always meaning to listen to more, and started with Quaristice because it came out last year. I can't say much about it in relation to their other music, I just didn't think it was particularly awesome.

I suppose I've been listening to this music for far too long and listened to the stuff as it was coming out (outside of Incunabula and Amber), so I have a completely different perspective.

I feel that Draft 7:30 is still one of the most under appreciated Autechre releases. Mostly because it was the 'Confield' successor which is a mindfuck all its own. That's the pivotal Autechre release where some think it's genius while others think it's shit. I've tried listening to it more than I can count and I can only get to 'Pen Expers' before I just think to myself...(do i really wanna listen to this anymore?). I think the people that loved 'Confield' (like you) were disappointed in the draft release because it didn't really have anything to do with the sound of 'Confield', while others, (like me) enjoyed the majority of it because it wasn't quite as abstract and was very listenable.

the songs 'Surripere' and 'Vproc' are my highlights of 'Draft 7.30'.

yes, indeed the Cichlisuite EP; in fact i also wouldn't mind the Chiastic Slide/Envane type of sound coming back either, but don't we all?

i think that Quaristice had the same effect on me as did Draft and according to your experience i think that i might see why. i respect it for its musicality and composition, but it just hasn't struck me. perhaps we'll see what i say in a couple of months.

Confield also has a unique impact on me too because it was during a transition in my life where i had never been exposed to such a sound. broken record as it is to many, but 'Cfern' brought tears to my eyes. 'Parhelic Triangle' was also quite a shocker, but much like your experience, 'PEN EXPERS' was a blinding experience. anyway, enough of this; rabbit trails galore from my ADD ness.

No, isn't that the one Dangermouse did of the Beatles and Jay-Z?

Yeah, you're probably right, I'll check it out. Not gonna lie, I'm a big sucker for all this mashup nonsense.
