Recommend Me Music

For awhile now I've concentrated primarily on listening to the music I've already heard, spending less time looking for new music. Lately I've started to focus more on finding new music again, so I'm posting this since radiomute has never failed to introduce me to great new music.

Those of you who have been around here for awhile most likely have a good sense of my taste in music. For those of you that aren't familiar with my listening habits, I listen to almost all genres of music. The types of music I listen to most often are electronic (especially breakcore, IDM, and industrial), metal (for the most part sludge/stoner doom, grindcore, and metalcore), punk (especially hardcore, horror punk, and psychobilly), most types of rap, all sorts of avant-garde and experimental music, and blues. Some examples of my overall favorite artists/bands include (in no order whatsoever):

Tom Waits
Converge
Aphex Twin
Venetian Snares
The Residents
Bauhaus
Elliot Smith
Frank Zappa
Diamanda Galas
Pig Destroyer
Enduser
Curl Up and Die
Electric Wizard
Crass
The Melvins
Wu-Tang Clan
Philip Glass
Joy Division
Merzbow
MF Doom
Choking Victim
Dead Kennedys
The Tiger Lillies
John Zorn
System of a Down
Swans
Einsturzende Neubauten
Queens of the Stone Age
Otto Von Schirach
Nine Inch Nails
Fantomas
Mindless Self Indulgence
Johnny Cash
Interpol
Immortal Technique
David Bowie
, etc.

So if there is any music (recent or old) that you think I'd enjoy feel free to post it here!

I'll recommend what I'm listening to right now:

Big Maybelle.

Ulver. Thought I'd be surprised if you don't already have some of their stuff.

Is there a release in particular that you'd suggest starting with?

Sure, man. Blues, Candy & Big Maybelle is a nice collection to start with. It's a collection of her Savoy Records recordings, her best. After indulging in those, you'll be more keen to her Okeh recordings, and then her even earlier ones (as far back as the late '30s, though these are non-solo).

Here's something to start you off with. Just listen to that inhale toward the end. The definition of soul music is in that inhale...

And here's a famous Cosby Show scene featuring Big Maybelle's biggest hit "Candy":

This was the first time I heard Big Maybelle's music. For that, high fives all around for the Coz.

If you haven't heard of them already, Stars, or The Submarines. They are kind of indy. but a good thinking listen.

The Black keys are wicked too.

Pyschedelic improv from the 70's

Judging from the bands on your list I would say you would love them.

Crass may come the closest in character from your list
