Alternative Schools, Schools, Training, Etc
Hi,
I am new and looking for a school or place to get trained. Can anyone help me out?
Looks like everyone here is nice to one another. SO, I thought I'd ask some questions.
I'd like to keep my families needs in my considerations. We are young and we have some little kids so their needs are important. But I can't do this 9-5 stuff unless I really like it any longer.
I am looking for a school that will get me trained in the industry. I don't do well with reading stuff and knowing it. I got to have my hands in there somehow.
I heard of a few schools that aren't going to cost me my left kidney. Can you point me to some you consider worthy of my investigation? Thanks.

trained doing what exactly?
what general area are you in?
i know in canada most schools that offer any type of specialized media / audio based courses are in private schools and therefore don't get government subsidies to lower their tuition. don't know how it is in your area.

Ok Take This One For instance
Trained to be on the radio or a dj. Radio Mute? Right? How do I get on the radio?
I heard of one place that can get the loans but I can't find anyone who has been there to really give me advice. I guess that someone has to have gone. But what's the point if you can't have some banter on the subject with them?
Ok, take a look at this one and tell me what your thoughts are.
Radio Connection at http://www.radioconnection.com
I mean ok sure if it works. But does it? Maybe that just depends on the person who is getting trained. But I thought one-on-on training when out with the Second War or thereafter. You know? Cause when radio first started, that is what you did. You found a way into the radio station and trained behind someone already in the position you wanted.

The real main question is will you be able to continue paying the monthly bills for your family while you go to school....were you will not be paid? You also won't be paid for any internship you would be doing.

Okay, so my concern would be holding myself together in the meantime. Paying for the household bills, providing food on the table and making sure the lights are always on. But doesn't Sallie Mae make room for cost of living? Something like 40-60% Right?!?
That may not be what I make or it may equal it. But if it's going to make the transition smoother, and it 's really what I want to do. That makes me a happier person, right? Than what's the small price to pay of less than a year of budgeting my family? I don't want the Starbucks coffee anyways!
Wait, they'll work with the schedule I have. So, I see my kids less. Ouch. I wonder if they'd let me stretch out more just to give my kids some time, too. Man!
I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks.

1. The fine print says you can get up to 60% additional on top of the tuition....as in, $3,870.
2. You and your wife need to ask yourselves if that's going to be enough. You're probably going to have to eliminate everything which doesn't have anything to do with your family being able to eat and have a roof over it's head and other bare necessities. Also without knowing where you live....keep in mind winter is coming....so, there might be the added cost of heating your home/ apt.
As well as being willing to see less of both your wife and children while you put in all the extra hours each week....unless you're willing to give up several hours of sleep to compensate.
Back in the Prehistoric Pre-Satchmo days....between College(s) and jobs....it was sleep that lost out for me. We're all going to be sleeping the long sleep eventually, anyhoo.

Don't forget that body, mind and soul need regeneration. That is mainly provided by sleep. Without enough sleep, there's no proper regeneration. And without proper regeneration your performance level will decrease sooner or later, resulting in failing to achieve the desired and/or required results.
So wherever you make up time, be sure to get sufficient bedtime.

Sleep, that's important. Thank you. I seem to forget that one!
It does say it will work around what current schedule I have. It's also located everywhere. And I don't have to go to Ohio. Which is the alternative decision. That would involve uprooting everyone. And it would take longer. I have an aunt that would let us stay with her in Ohio. I just think that's more bad thinking.

I have a friend who did this rogram and he said the best part was that he was able to keep his day job and study around his existing schedule.
