Hm... it appears that I never actually placed a vote. At the time of this thread's creation, I would have voted Opeth.

But, I've listened to all of their albums far too many times and they don't interest me like they used to... not to mention that the last couple albums were .

My vote goes to Converge.

IMO: Necrophagist > Mastadon > Opeth > Converge


Love the only Necrophagist album I have (Epitaph), it's almost a perfect example of my kind o' metal. Like Mastadon WAY more that Opeth too. To be fair though I have not really heard much Converge, though I wasn't impressed by their myspace clips.

You need to check out Jane Doe and No Heroes, immediately, in that order and report back.

Funny, I wouldn't place Opeth that high in any list, esp. not a metal list. I can barely get through a whole album, though what I do like of theirs is damned good.
