Favorite Works for String Quartet
For a long while now I've wanted to work with the sounds of strings in my music. However, the software instruments I've found don't sound authentic enough to me so what I want to do is build up a library of string quartets that I can listen to and study in order to get a better sense of the music, as well as to dissect and edit so I can use them in my own music. SO, I figured I'd start a thread so those of you that are more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to this type of music can recommend some good string quartets for me. I'm not looking for anything specific, so really any string quartets that you enjoy or feel are noteworthy.
GO!

Faith No More already used Shostakovich's 8th quartet on Malpractice, though.

To be honest I couldn't think of too many bands that hadn't already been mentioned in that thread.
