Hey.
I'm learning right now using my doble bass pedal, the jazz wasn't helping me that much so i decided to change to heavy so i can practice listening to some bands. Have any advice?
As far as double kicks go my friend, you basically have to decide which set is more comfortable for you.. Heel down, or up.
metal/hard rock i suggest heel up
ska/indy/alternative/jazz/swing i suggest heel down.
practice with a metronome at about 72-85bpm, and do 2 on the right foot, a double stroke 4 on the snare, then a double on the left pedal. and as you feel more comfortable, speed it up!
When you are practicing the double bass licks explore different muscle group combinations. You'll find that you can pull out the same patterns for longer with less fatigue and/or cramping.
Also, it's important to sit up straight when you play double kick, then lean into the drums slightly when playing your exercises. This will help you keep your balance.
