Smile Chris Cornell's New Song

Hey guys I'm new to the forum, so I figured I would see if there were any others out there that like Chris Cornell. I've been a fan for years, and am excited because he has a new song coming out on the 29th called Long Gone.

I'm also really excited to see him in concert in Cincinnati, Ohio next month. He's touring with Linkin Park in Projekt Revolution...I can't wait to hear him!!

So fellow fans,i know you're out there, tell me what you're favorite songs are!!
Listened to Chris Cornell with Long Gone

He Jumped the Shark over 10-years-ago. That he's touring with Linkin Park says it all, now. It would have never happened back when he still cared about anything but the Benjamins.

Now he sings like he just doesn't really care or has put his testes in a jar in some closet somewhere.

Who knows maybe he might eventually be touring with Miley Cyrus.

Wow...Linkin Park. How the mighty have fallen. I feel like burning all of my flannel shirts now.

So I guess it's safe to say he'll whip out the acoustic and make "Billie Jean" a concert regular? Maybe with a singalong at the end?

I would not doubt it.

not really sure what to say on this anymore the bitchiness has faded or something

finding out that chris cornell is sucking for cash is about as surprising as learning that the chili peppers will release yet another flaccid pop record.

like i said the last time his name came up for discussion, i'd cut him some slack if he called his next album 'i got 3 daughters and college is expensive'

I went to Projekt Revolution in Indianapolis last week.

I'm not a Linkin Park fan, but they put on one hell of a live show, even if you don't like the music, it's pretty ignorant to judge anyone just by who they tour with.

If your are/or have been a CC fan, he sounds amazing live still, although his new songs is more geared to the mainstream, it takes nothing away from the sound of his voice, and the absolute class of performer that he is. (From what i heard, the new solo album will be better than the last)

As for touring with Linkin Park, any breakthrough act trying to make it that turns down the opportunity to play with the likes of LP in the modern day would just be shooting themselves in the foot... So if you choose to listen to bands solely because they would rather headline themselves in bars for 10 years before they make a name for themselves, so be it.

At the show I got the opportunity to see some bands with a lot of potential, and bands I have been listening to for years, but who wont have the fan base to bring them to a location near me.

10 Years & Ashes Divide comes to mind.

So hate LP as much as you want, but that's no real ground to judge the state of Chris Cornell by.

I don't judge Cornell or Linkin Park by the effect nor influence of the other. They are both uninteresting on their own terms.

Cornell & Linkin Park per se

but this would count in any argument where you have great bands touring with what could be seen as a band "selling out".. Touring with a band that sells out is good in terms of exposing your music to a larger audience, it does not necessarily mean that you are a sellout, if you get my argument?

I'm not trying to make any enemies, its just my humble opinion.

but chris cornell isn't exactly a new act trying to breakthrough anything. soundgarden was a HUGE band in the 90s. audioslave got lots of coverage. cornell was regularly cited as one of the best vocalists of the 90s. he is NOT obscure in the music world. he had, and still has, MILLIONS of fans around the world. which is why taking the role of a 'breakthrough' act playing 2nd fiddle to formula rock for suburban teen angst reeks of selling out for cash as opposed to exposing his music to a new audience.

as for the new single i'll admit that the live version on leno is superior to the radio version (i was at least able to listen to the bulk of the whole live tune). but he sure as shit is LONG gone from the man who used to scream 'AND YOU STARE AT MEEEEeeeEEEEE IN YOUR JESUS CHRIST POSE!!!!!!!!!!'

on the very awesome plus side. this was related video to the new cornell single. FUCK YES!

I hear you, awesome track.

One thing that is a point to ponder is how much of Soundgarden & Audioslave was Cornell, and how much was the band playing behind him. Sure most bands would not mind having the incredible vocals of Cornell, but one thing that was very apparent from the live show is that his guitarist got nowhere close to Morello in terms of sound and quality when performing live. He sounded like some kid trying really hard but failing miserably.
