P.S. Anyone wanting to keep track of Mosaic's Running Low/Last Chance sets.

http://www.mosaicrecords.com/lastchance.asp

P.P.S.
Once you order something from them they will send you emails informing you when anything is added to the list. I will also say they're the friendliest and most service oriented companies you will find....and they do take suggestions for future releases. Just in case is crosses your mind....you don't even need to be Satchmofor them to so nice and helpful or take the advice. Hell, they're like that with the peons! WTF? Next thing you know the peons will get the crazy idea they should be paid! WTF?, indeed!

Of course, everything depends on being able to lease the master tapes and potential sales. At the moment EMI/Blue Note (which owns a part of Mosaic), Sony (as in Columbia), and Universal (Verve, Decca, whatntos) are the companies they generally deal with the most.

Anthony Braxton - Quartet (Santa Cruz) 1983

With his Classic Quartet. If you can find a copy and it doesn't involve having to sell a kidney or whatnot, JUMP ALL OVER IT!

For those who should have picked up the Albert Ayler Holy Ghost box set. It's come to my attention that some of them had a defective 6th disc.

Satchmo - The Complete Decca Recordings of Louis Armstrong & the All-Stars

One of Mosaic's excellent box sets....which is no very much out of print, however, it's been reissued into two sets by one of the overseas companies.

Since from a U.S. point of view they're considered bootleg and the estate of everyone performing won't see a cent....if you can find a place to download this set....

Repeat after Satchmo:

I MUST GET Them!
I MUST GET THEM!
I MUST GET THEM!
I MUST GET THEM!
I MUST GET THEM!

I MUST GET THEM!

I MUST GET THEM, BABY!

His Ghost Trance Music isn't for everyone. As per usual, Satchmo anticipates the Grasshoppas and has already dropped knowledge.

http://www.radiomute.com/23347-antho...nce-phase.html

He's now moved on to three different phases at once. In order....

Falling River Musics
Diamond Curtain Wall - this is were he's been lately. He has a Diamond Curtain Wall Trio & Quartet and uses the SuperCollider program.
Echo Echo Mirror House
- I don't believe he's actually done anything with this, yet. It involves multiple art forms into one composition and performance.

The Quartet....

The Trio....

Anyone wanting to keep track of his performances....

You can also find the best discography and composition index (which while not up to date (he's in the 300's now) I really recommend checking out) for his recordings from the same site.

Yeah, yesterday while listening I was reading about his Ghost Trance Music. I really doubt I am wrong when I say he is one of the most knowledgeable and ambitious musician alive.

Awesome!! thanks for all the info.

In the early days he made a living by being a chess hustler. He's a really nice person, but can also can be amazingly pretentious. Try reading some of his books, papers, liner notes and interviews.

He's also been known to take Ganja on the left-hand side.

I really need to get around to updating those recommendations with so many things being reissued.

You're welcome.

One of the recent Mosaics. It was only released in April and it's already been backordered twice, now. You can be sure it will be on the 2008 reissue list.
