I'm not a fan of all things Otto Von but I do like this one for some reason. I think it appeals to the part of me that is punk rawk and wants to give everyone I see the finger. :P

Maxipad Detention is the only one I have, and I haven't listened to it in ages. I remember finding it pretty uneven IE> liking a few tracks and not really liking a few.

Well holy shit Oozing Bass Spasms is great. I have to agree with Josh I think this might be his best album so far, and...OMG! He uses the amen break!

Speaking of the amen break...I was talking to Producer Snafu (aka Ace of Breaks) on soulseek the other night and he expressed to me how he dislikes the amen break. He asked me "why would you want to use the same sample in every song?". I guess this is a good point, when you look at it that way you are using the same break very often.
To me, using the amen break routinely isn't the same as using any other sample that many times. I tend to look at it like using the break as your drum set. Actual drummers don't change their entire drum kits every time they record a new song, so why should it be a problem to use the same or similar drum sounds repeatedly in electronic music? I can understand wanting diversity but, I like the sound of the amen break and the things that are possible to do with it in a song.
What do you think? Do breakcore artists rely too heavily on the amen break? If they do, what would you suggest instead?

I love the amen break, and while I'm not a stunning musician myself I prefer to program my drums from scratch rather than cut up a sample. You get some perks doing it either way I think, but yeah, developing a new drum kit for every song becomes a chore in itself, you end up re-using a few 'instruments'.

I like cutting breaks because it's such a huge pain in the ass most of the time to make electronic drums sound human.
And besides, look at all the shit you can do with the amen break!

At the moment I'm addicted to the new stuff from Otto Von Schirach, Venetian Snares, and Blaerg.
