The Replacements

What does everyone think about this band? I had heard about them a long time ago but never really listened to anything by them.

If anyone has suggestions on which album to start with I'd appreciate it

they recently reissued several of their records in deluxe editions.

any of their first four releases are worth having.

let it be is the one i would suggest as their best. many prefer tim....but thats a bit too cleaned up by the producer for my taste. i prefer their more garage sound.

if i ranked the first four.

let it be
sorry ma, forgot to take out the trash
hootenanny
tim - didnt get a deluxe reissue, yet. this one was the major label release. so, its a different label than the first 3

A cool band, I have Tim and I've heard most of Let it Be before. The Replacements have always felt like a band every teenage boy should listen to at some point...just something I feel from their sound. I could almost say I don't feel like I'd enjoy them even close to as much 20 years from now.

Yeah, but don't you think that's part of the point? That's something I really enjoy about them, they sound like they're only a step above some garage band made up of teenagers from my high school.

Yeah, their sound is pretty immature. Not that that's bad; I can enjoy that raunchy teenage stuff, but I think a group like Modern Lovers or Violent Femmes does it better.

I'm basing this all on Let it Be, though. I'll probably pick up another of their albums at some point.

Same case here. I've heard Let it Be a few time ago and it didn't do much to me.
