Okay I may be more than 10 years too slow but I have just discovered the DISECTION album "Storm of the Light's Bane"
What a great album, it must be the best Black/Death metal I have heard since....the 80's??

And yeah The Somberlain is also pretty damned good but I wouldn't dare call either the best or nearly the best black/death metal in the past couple of decades.

Have you heard Below the Lights btw?

I have heard very little black metal since the 80's which is why it is so easy for me to rate them so highly , so yeah I pretty much haven't heard anything you throw at me.

Well... you should definitely try Enslaved's last few albums (Below the Lights, Ruun and Isa).
