It's all that memory lane Styx, J. Giels, Huey Lewis and the News listening.

I had to start that over

Not going to happen again for a little while. I didn't have enough from my early childhood to start and I actually went back a couple of times because I kept forgetting things. I have a better handle on what needs to be done; for starters, actually planning it properly will be a big help.

I am less into this album having heard it a few times. It's true that lately I do listen to Damnation as much or more than any other one opeth album these days, but the issue isn't even that there is less growling on this album than a lot of the other ones. It just feels like there is something missing from the songs. I do still like it, but much of it goes by without actually grabbing me. I did recently hear their "Bridge of Sighs" cover and it sounded pretty cool, not as good as the original but well done.

hehe... my personal fav. Opeth album is probably Orchid and has been for a while now. But yeah, of the post-BWP releases, Damnation is the one that has least annoying parts. And while they have made some decent albums lately there are aspects of the band like the lyrics(not to imply that they were a band known for that particular aspect) and clean singing which seem to be a bit irritating. Coil for one is clearly the worst clean song they've done.

Well I found Ghost Reveries some time ago on sale and picked it up. While I really liked about, say, half of it I found the more 'acoustic' parts to grate on my nerves, especially the accompanying vocal. Just sounded really cheesy IMO. Based on the above list I checked out Blackwater Park (clips online first, gunshy now...) and I like it a lot more. Picked that up last week and have really enjoyed it. May pick up Still Life if it's along the same lines.

Also picked up the new Bloodbath album, based on the other thread as I mentioned there and it's damned good too.
