'Indie' pop

Anyone know some pop oriented records with heavy use on electronics?

Are you looking for something similar to LCD Soundsystem?

I have heard lots of LCD Soundsystem and definitely exhausted their small catalog. I think I must enjoy James Murphy's because I enjoy the DFA remixes too.

Speaking of DFA, I really liked the new album the other half of that put out "Hercules and the Love Affair"; fun stuff.

But getting back to your main question, no it is not really LCD Soundsystem I am looking for. If I want more of that I'll go for !!!. To me both of these bands are a little more rock oriented.

But by all means if you have something in mind please suggest it.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for but I turned off the High Places album, simple electronic beats with a nice sounding girl singing on top of them, and was interested in exploring more of that direction. Feist, Panda Bear, some Jens Lekman are other examples. Belle and Sebastian is another group I've grown fond of lately. I think I will make a point to try out Gold Frapp and El Perro Del Mar.

I'm not sure of what you have or haven't heard so I'm gonna go with some obvious choices.

A very good release from last year was Caribou's Andorra , and by the artists you are mentioning I think that you will like that one. Their sound is something like the psychedelic 60's pop with electronic music.

There is also Stars, on their record Set Yourself on Fire they incorporate a lot of electronic sounds, catchy melodies and good arrangements.

Cornelius is a japanese artist that makes good quality electronic experimental pop hehe. Fantasma is his best record so far.

My random 1 track samples from Myspace all proved to be great!

I remember hearing a lot about Stars with their latest release and some thing had originally turned me off. I can't remember what but I'll check out the album you had mentioned.

Thanks a lot, if you've got any other ideas I'd love to hear them!

!!! and LCD Soundsystem I do enjoy, if either of you have similar suggestions that'd be great too. But no, it is not what I am looking for in terms of this post.

Timo Maas sounds OK, I will look into Pictures. Some of the people he seems to be associated with I'm not too fond of (those big name Trance DJs like Paul Van Dyk & Tiesto).

You know Portis Head has been sitting in my collection and I haven't given them an honest shot in years. My last listen I remember thinking it was too slow but honestly right now I couldn't pick out a single of theirs. They are very well regarded and I've got some friends with similar tastes who enjoy them so maybe its time I buckle down and get through an album.

Lamb I've never heard but will look out for.

Thanks Tanjello.

Man, Timo Maas is nothing like those horrible trance DJ's. Why some idiot wrote their names into the amazon review I will never know. They are as far from trance as LCD SS is.

Get into Portisehead and Lamb they are both amazing.

You could also try some Thievery Corporation or some Massive Attack both are great. Or Try MSTRKRFT - "The Looks"

Actually Just Blaze, get your hands on these songs:

PLUMP DJ'S - "Morning sun"
DOPAMINE - "Hold You"
LAMB - "Gorecki"
FREEFORM FIVE - No More Conversation (Mylo remix)

I think that could be the style you are after

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Tying Tiffany is one artist that comes to my mind. Italian suicide girl fronted electro-pop. Not really the kind of stuff people would recommend on Radiomute, but I've been enjoying the album "Undercover" a lot recently. Let me know what you think and I might be able to find you something else depending on whether you like or not.

I checked out Caribou but not the album you suggested Orwell. I got my hands on their Tour CD from 2007 which is very fun and I'll definitely look into them.

MSTRKRFT - The Looks I have had for a little while and I've played it out. My one complaint is that the tracks drag on too long for my tastes and the songwriting is lame; it is a great companion to have when entertaining dancing so some suggestions in that vain would be good.

I hadn't realized you were into electronic music Tanjello.

Massiveattack is another act I've been promising another listen to but thought the same thing as Portishead; too slow. Thievery Corporation has been on my list but it has been a low priority.

I'll try for the singles next time soulseek is working well, I couldn't really track them down on the net. I do like full albums better in general though.

I gave a listen to Tying Tiffany the other day with Myspace and wasn't very impressed, sounds like a rehash of other stuff. The track "I Can Do It" was fun, but the hook turned me off.

I do like electro pop in general though. Perhaps you thought to suggest this because I was looking for a female over electro? I think the female voice needs to have more character. Plus the beats need to be simpler if I'm going to focus on the lyrics. I'd rather listen to house music over this in favor of songwriting.

Thanks to both of you!
