while that article makes it sound likely that the RIAA got the wrong person based on the IP address (which is entirely probable). it's not like this person is completely without fault. was her connection secure? did she only share a folder or her whole hard drive? there's a claim in the article that the RIAA is using people to scour individual's hard drives for every piece of media available, if you don't pay attention when you install limewire EVERY piece of media on your system is shared by default (if i remember correctly - never used kazaa). i'm not saying she should have been sued but at the same time the RIAA seemed to have a reason to suspect.
it's not so much a matter of being
very tech savvy it's a matter of understanding the technology you use. was her connection secure or was her wireless network free for public use? do you know how to lock the doors on your car? i still know plenty of people who get free internet from their neighbors.
