A couple of broken bones and a few bruises those little rats left me with, but I'm still alive and kicking.

What is wrong with the pre-1950's comment? I could be wrong but I think it would be the opposite if I would have called this an all-time list. I didn't want to include any pre-1950's because it wouldn't be a fair fight, given the prolonging time of the recordings in first place. But believe me, I know music existed before the 1950's.

For me, most of my list would include the pre-1950s and quite a bit from the 50s itself. But, in agreeing with you, I feel the need to not include pre-50s stuff because, like I said, so many of the artists I listened to just didn't record 'albums.' You can see that I've put The Complete Robert Johnson on my top 5 list, but I'm always thinking "I can't do that. It's a compilation - but Johnson didn't release albums, so it's okay. Or is it?" And then, if I started including all of that pre-50s stuff, it would be full of Son House, Skip James, Lead Belly, Blind Willie Johnson, and so on, all compilations.

Anyway, life's a blur.

Yes agree, life's a blur.

On the record's subject, it will also depend on how you are defining the concept of a "record" and an "album".

I'm going to have to check out that Gilberto Gil record. I'm still wet behind the ears when it comes Tropicalia. Chrysanthym (or anyone one else I guess), do you know anything about Nara Leão or Jorge Ben? Those are two other artists I've heard good things about, though I'm not sure what albums I should start with.
