Post The Musical Banter Thread (miscellanious music discussion)

I realized that the Idle Banter Thread in the FSS is probably best reserved for non-musical discussion, so a thread for miscellaneous music discussion would be nice. Just post any musical comments, ideas etc that don't deserve their own thread/fit in an existing thread here.

I'll stick it to the top of the forum for now, if it doesn't take off I'll take it down.

Therion used to be in my "2nd teir" of metal bands, well bellow acts like Cynic or Death, but I've been giving their catalogue another run through and they're slowly climbing closer to a first-tier artist for me. I think they still adhere to standard thrash riffs a bit too much, and I can see the heavy cheese factor in their "operatic/orchestral" aspirations could turn off some (( I like it )), but they're really very good at creating memorable hooks and melodies, and can bring the complexity when they want, although in general their work is much more subdued and restrained than most groups of their ilk, which I'm starting to appreciate more.

Whoops, didn't see that one.

In any case, I'll leave this as is. We'll see if Haakon notices.

Seba did you just delete the top 100 records thread you made yesterday?
I spent all night awaken to make that, and suddenly I see there is no more.

I didn't think anyone would reply, so I closed it. Since you made a list, I'll reopen it.
