Just found out about the upcoming new release from Bauhaus entitled Going Away White, coming March 4, 2008. Apparently, there was an unknown "incident" and they're officially broken up again; but, at least there's the album. Should be interesting to hear how they sound together on record after 25 years.

They certainly sounded good when I saw them live in New York in 2005 Probably my favorite concert so far.

What, more than Cecil Taylor?

Yes, I'm bitter.

Cecil Taylor was definitely awesome and was my first real show but Bauhaus is one of my favorite bands.

I'm listening to Gothic Kabbalah again. I think it should be an automatic standard of excellence when any heavy rock album includes a bass solo.

I don't know if this was posted already, but here's the list to the recent 1001 Albums To Hear Before You Die book.

http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/steve...1001albums.htm

I did a brief search and found Hot Rats as the only Zappa recording mentioned and no Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf Generator, Magma, or Area, so I don't think I'm liking it.

However, they did include Soft Machine's Third and The Residents' Duck Stab, so it isn't entirely useless.

Oh, and not one mention of Cecil Taylor, Eric Dolphy, or Albert Ayler...or Satchmo.

And they somehow decided that Zorn playing Ornette Coleman was more significant than any of Coleman's own recordings.

Of course, it's also implied that there's nothing of significance recorded prior to 1950.

First off, they shouldn't even be ON this list. And if they SHOULD be, this most certainly would not be the album of choice.
