Although it has some great songs, I think Pearl Jam really hadn't hit their stride yet on Ten. I'm going with Superunknown.

I agree with jazzfromhell.
To expand, I do like Pearl Jam better when looking at entire catalogs. But when putting these two albums side by side Superunknown is an easy pick.

i don't think pearl jam is a bad band in the least, i really like their stuff, but i don't think PJ could ever pull out anything on the level of superunknown. even now that they have matt cameron in the band.

Superunknown seems less pretentious than Ten. Ten has never been an enjoyable album for me. There's just something about it that irks me.

I think ten has aged a little better, in fact, I think its the only pearl jam album that has aged well
Superunknown I always thought had something missing from it, can't really explain it, just liked bad motor finger better

Wow, I'd say the complete opposite. It's a great album, but it's sound is practically arena rock compared to the rest of their catalogue, which shows much more depth and longevity -- the rest of their catalogue has a much more naturalistic, timeless sound, IMHO.

Ten was the Pearl Jam album I liked the most, but I've never been much into their stuff. My least favorite of the major grunge bands overall.
Superunknown, on the other hand, is my second-least favorite Soundgarden album. Would have been my least favorite had they not released Down On The Upside. I still like Superunknown better than Ten.

Pearl Jam's best stuff was out on Vs. or Yield.
Maybe I'm partial, but I think Badmotorfinger is a better album than Superunknown.
I'd say a better comparison would have to be Alice in Chains "Dirt" vs. Stone Temple Pilots "Core".
