Who said anything about not being able to?
It's not really a question of skill. I'm pretty sure if you're throwing down the money for a Gibson Robot Guitar, you're either rich or lazy.

I agree to some extent, but there's a difference between being able to tune it relatively and being able to tune it to concert pitch right off the bat. Only a tiny proportion of people can do that, and having that skill (perfect pitch) is unrelated to how good a musician they are.

I think one of the useful things about this guitar is being able to change tunings at the flick of a switch. When Jimmy Page was playing with Led Zep he would always have to change to a guitar in DADGAD to do White Summer and Kashmir - with this one he wouldn't need to.

Overall, though, the benefits are admittedly pretty limited for a guitar that costs around £1400. I'm not about to trade in my Les Paul for one.

Great idea but tuning is part of the fun of playing guitar.

For $900 I can buy a nice, new Telecaster.

Neat idea, but will only add to the sentiment that guitar players are complete morons.

*Resembles that remark*

Gutted, though. The tuning conundrum was the last bastion for those of us that would rather not teach people who want to learn status quo songs.
