I admit I liked them in the early/mid '90s. I was all over the zeppelin-esque riffs and beatle-esque pop songs. Plus I was all over any band with vocal harmonies of any kind. (( See my love of Queen. ))

I listen to them once in a while when I'm feeling nostalgic.

P.S. - The fact that the video poster refers to them as an "indie rock" band is hillarious. I think they had, what, 10 #1 singles or so on Atlantic for crying out loud...

I had forgotten how simplistic and dull that song was

Grasshoppas.....not only are they Original.....but they invented the wheel, fire, internet (sorry Al), and backscratchers....that last one might get them a Nobel.

P.S. Isn't that supposed to have been Cho Seung-hui's favorite song?

Correct.

Firstly...Collective Soul is NOT a Christian rock band. You might be forgiven for thinking that they are because of a song like Shine, but they have often described their music as "music with a message". The two brothers Ed (Lead Vocals) and Dean (guitar) come from a church family ie. their father was a practicing minister.
Many of their songs promote and proclaim christian themes like universal love, peace and happiness but they cannot be classified as a christian rock band.

CS was my introduction to rock music and for that reason I am rather biased when it comes to their music. It's "happy", radio-friendly, commercial music and we all know that that is a recipy for ridicule when it comes to this forum. They USED to be my favourite band and i own every single album and DVD they have ever produced.
I am however rather happy to say that my musical tastes have evolved since early high school and they have slipped quite far down my list of favourites but there still remains a soft spot in my musical heart for them.

I do believe they are rather underrated as musicians. They have the ability to write songs that stick in ur head regardless of whether u like the song or not. I've also seen them live in concert twice and they are one of the tightest outfits around, without a doubt, even though their music is rather symplistic in nature.
They have not lived up to their earlier albums' success in recent years mainly because of their original (and incredibly talented) Lead Guitarist and drummer quiting the band. I find their new stuff rather lame.

Also, everybody knows the songs like Shine and December but if u start scratching around i think many would be surprised at how heavy they can actually be. Not all of their songs are strawberry's and cream.
I will always like CS for introducing me to rock music, if it wasnt for them, i'd probably still be listening to my boy-bands right now.

As far as Creed goes. Not a big fan. Alterbridge though...completely different story!

You Superior Prick (so many Originals in this thread) I put a lot of time and effort into typing out what you translated with two sentences. Couldn't you have at least made it a paragraph or two!
