1. This is a compilation of the three recordings which Ravi Shankar & Yehudi Menuhin made together....it was those recordings which lead to Shankar and Indian music being introduced to the West and non-classical Modern Music....and the rest is history.

You're welcome.

A previous thread which should be of interest to you. Considering Grasshoppa Roivas started it....I am surprised he didn't drop it on you, himself.

Basically the only tracks by them worth listening to

Ulver's track Eos from their new album is also pretty nice.
Secret Chiefs 3 also have very indian semi-classical inspired songs. Try the track in my av for some pretty good indian percussion(esp. since you like jazz).

However, I don't really like any of the fusion styled bands.

Yusef Lateef - Eastern Sounds

Joe Harriott
/John Mayer:
Indo Jazz Suite
Indo Jazz Fusions

Lateef would incorporate Arabic and/or Indian music into many of his recordings.

Harriott is pretty much forgotten today, but he's somewhat similar to Ornette Coleman.

If you can find it check out "Electric Psychedelic Sitar Headswirlers" collection...It's a 9 disc compilation of some really cool music which contain the sitar.
