I noticed he now types out complete, coherent sentences in his posts. What has sparked this marvelous new growth?

When 'You Oughta Know' came out everyone in Canada went "What the fuck?!" Few Americans and even fewer Europeans knew who she was and suddenly for Canadians she went from bouncy-big hair-bubblegum-Paula Abdul-shitty-early 90s-pop to telling some dude (Dave Coulier?) to go fuck himself. Nothing happens in Canada so it was quite shocking. I remember going to school and 'You Oughta Know' was playing on the bus radio and everyone was debating if it was the same Alanis.

Paula Abdul just as late 80s Janet Jackson was cool. Really dig that stuff. But Alanis just doesn't fit in there, especially now in retrospective. The videos come over like a Paula Abdul parody, especially the second one. Pretty much like her version of My Humps.
I remember when I heard a song called Bitch which I actually happened to like (and still like), thinking to myself "Wow, a cool Alanis tune!"
Turned out to be Meredith Brooks, which fortified my theory that Alanis was all crap. Until today.

Actually...that's the best Alanis stuff I've ever heard. As for Seger, Night Moves was the last album I liked by him. The next two were just okay and he plummted after that. It's a shame they made a video with the original song many years after he wrote and recorded it.

Now, now, Rancho is very open to at least trying new music. He's never complained about something he's never heard before and is always honest if he doesn't know what something is. For example, I tried to get him into Blind Willie Johnson a few years back, and he gave Blind Willie an honest listen. We talked about it for a while, but ultimately, though Rancho admitted that Blind Willie could play guitar like a mofo, he just wasn't into Blind Willie's music. Give me that attitude any day over Shamemaker.

Word!

P.S. Give Satchmo enough time above ground and T-R will eventually be ONE with The Way of Satchmo.

P.P.S. I thought about this....and I really can't see any legitimate reason why Grasshoppa-in-training Team-Rancho still gets bashed around here.

I will take it as a personal insult if any Grasshoppas or Brothaman continue to do so in the future.

Now, that doesn't mean there can't be any good natured teasing and joking around with.

Thus Spoke Satchmo!

P.P.P.S. Grasshoppa-in-training T/R....don't let Satchmo down!

I didn't say you were stupid. Nor did I insult you in any way. No one has a problem with what you listen to.

I have to address several things here now...

@Zolaman:
The Blind Willie Johnson thing was just over a year ago, it's still out there. And The Clash will be inducted into the HOF next week, hehe.
Funny anecdote on blues:
A very good friend of mine whom I've known since we were 13 mostly listenes to thrash and even is in a thrash band (a rather bad one though). One day he came up to me and started talking about that great blues guy, John Lee Hooker. Just having discovered Billy Idol myself, I was like "What?!". So after school we went to his place and listened to the entire CD, it was some Best Of or something. Although I don't remember any specific songs and I haven't listed to Hooker since, I still have him on my checklist.

@Satchmo:
Thanx, but I really don't think I've been bashed here for years now. I thought Roiva's comment was of friendly nature, I just didn't comment on it. I'm still planning to go onto that Mexico trip with him BTW.

@Shamemaker:
I don't think you're bad guy. Only most users here don't seem to share the same views nor taste of music, which surprises me somewhat.
