low and behold im listening to husker du right now. green day perhaps may have been punk before they put out any album. saw the beginning of a documentary where they were just playing in a local club/bar with fans or whatever destroying shit w/e. then they made an album. oh wellz. pop-punk/alternativeness, that catagory they're pretty up there as far as 90s bands go i suppose.
