Well, at least I found one guy who likes to listen to the good music. What's your favorite album and song from Kenny G TheZola? I don't really know who Coltrane is, but I would never say to any musician to screw him, I think that all are good to listen at least once.

i know satchmo already covered this but whatever.

anyone claiming to be a fan of jazz and doesn't recognize the name coltrane is either completely clueless or... a troll. it's akin to some rock fan coming to the site and going on and on about how awesome nickelback is but not having a clue who led zeppelin is.

if you're really not a troll and want to learn about music then i'm pretty sure most of us will apologize and cut you some serious slack. but if all you want to do is the same song and dance as most other music sites with the whole:

this is my favourite
OMG no way it's my favourite too
i really like this song
oh yeah it's a good one but i like this one better
ya that one is good. this person is SO awesome
ya they're so great.

well... this thread should be indication enough that we're not that kind of forum on the other hand if you really are a troll (not that you'd admit it) then you failed horribly.

and TR - that was great

Well thanx all for your replies.

I'll start with Sathmo8101 here

First, I never said I was a jazz fan, I said I was a Kenny G fan. You are saying I don't know much about good music, but music is a subjective thing, if I like something, well then is good for me. I'm pretty sure you all like different things, nobody has exactly equal tastes.

This is the first time I hear someone said this Kenny is not jazz, even when he is listed on the contemporary jazz artists, but nevermind, jazz it's just a label, and I don't like labels.

I like Yanni, Linkin Park and 50 Cent, I don't see nothing wrong with them, but I don't like Britney Spears and Vanilla Ice, I think they are just plastic artists.

Of the bands you listed I know Led Zeppelin (Stairway to heaven rules), The Doors(my dad has some records from them), Red Hot Chili Peppers (I love Californication) and Mike Patton which I know because Norah worked with his band The Peeping Tom.

Thanks for all the other recomendations also, I will check them out.

Thank you too Panbient, as I wrote before, I know who Led Zeppelin is. And you don't have to appologize for anything. And for making you sure I'm not a troll, I'll share with you some other bands I like:
Coldplay, Green Day, Travis, Keane and Radiohead.

1. From your previous post, I thought as much if not younger.

2. I will put it this way....5 members of the Satchmo horde are either your age or older. I believe there are only 4 or 5 regular posters on RM who are older than the oldest member of the horde. As in, I am The Ancient One.

3. If you're going to insist on using Satchmo8101 at least get the c in there. However, you can call me Satchmo or Satch.

4. I will get around to responding in more detail to your above posts and the one in the other thread when I have time sometime in the future.

6. Since it appears you're at least willing to have an open mind and ears that this is needed as well.

I remember my friends were all watching the Kenny G DVD while on a "trip" a few years back. They seemed to think It was pretty awesome.
