Monk's Music (my number three)
Mingus Ha Um (another one that I found a little difficult to follow on some parts but it's good too)
And I havent found this yet: jazz samba encore!
I'll keep up searching for all the remaining recommended records.

1. Don't worry about those you might not really get at this time. That can change over time and more exposure.
2. Jazz Samba is fine, but this is what you really want from the Bossa Nova sub-genre.

3. Once you have sampled several different recordings, I can suggest more along the lines of those you really liked.

keep in mind there's a subtle yet significant difference between the jazz samba and the jazz samba encore. the encore has a much more mellow feel due to the guitarist and vocalist for those recording sessions. it's not to say charlie byrd is bad on the original, but his guitar stands out a lot more than luiz bonfa's on the encore. i don't know if it's due to recording techniques or different styles, or perhaps it was the labels attempt to keep the american musicians more prominent in the mix to increase domestic sales while introducing a new style.
either way none of those stan getz albums are bad, i just prefer the encore. hehehe

Hi guys
Another adds to my list:
Bitches Brew (didn't like it so much, nothing has to do compared with Kind of Blue in my opinion)
Waltz for Debby (this one is good, but I was expecting a sax or trumpet here and never appeared)
Saxophone Colossus (loved this one also)
I agree on what you said Satch, I'm gonna keep the ones I don't get right now, and see what happens later.

You should get Miles Smiles next. I like that release much more than Kind of Blue. All acoustic instruments. Great sound. Very accessible.
Rahsaan Roland Kirk next, maybe?:

Now that I am starting to have an idea what your tastes leans to for the moment....I will give you more recommendations to suit them. Are you only interested with recordings that include a saxophone?
The Bill Evans' recordings are considered some of the best. That trio is considered Evans' Classic Trio. This trio's playing was revolutionary....in that the other two were not just backing up Evans like every trio before, but played along side the piano. Evans was the piano player on most of Kind of Blue. A few of the songs are Evans on that record, but Miles took credit for them....which was customary in Jazz that the leader would take credit for songs.
Scott LaFaro who was the bass player on both the Bill Evans recordings was killed in a car accident 10 days after they were recorded.

If you do like Miles Smiles, you may like some of the other albums released by that quintet as well. They are of a similar vein (although unlike the Miles Smiles "go for it, warts and all" approach, there were actually outtakes). E.S.P., Sorcerer, and Nefertiti are all as good, I would say. Actually it depends on my mood. The four sidemen are all excellent musicians, and they were young and on fire here. My favorite of Miles' bands.

Yes Satch, I love recordings with saxophone and trumpet too. It's really interesting all you said about Bill Evans, and I'm expecting to listen more from him in the future.
Thanx Seerix, I haven't heard Miles Smiles yet, maybe next week, and if I like that one I'll go with your suggestions then.
