I would say that mainstream rap has become boring, repetitive, the same shit over and over...To where the music is almost a mockery of itself. These so called mainstream songs are not going to be remembered 2 months from now, and the most meaningful role they will ever play is being a made into a stupid ringtone. I'm sorry I dont want to hear about my rappers rap about things that aren't relevant to my life. For me music is a connection, and most of what I listen to is a reflection of my life or things that are relevant to me. I know there are a lot of people (the majority) that dont look at music like that, they see music as something to dance to in a club or just listen to, something thats catchy not necessarily meaningful. And thats fine, but understand that these mainstream artists are targeting you the majority who are going to buy these irrelevant albums that lack any meaning or intellectual lyrics, because your dollar has told them that is what you want. But any art whether its painting, music, or writing should be an expression of the artist, for him or her self. When you take that priority out or put it below making money or selling cds, than you get entertainers, and any true artist is an artist first entertainer second. Like I said a majority of you just like the music because its catchy or something to dance to, which again is ok...but by being that kind of fan your being almost cheated out of the kind of product you could be getting. And if your ok with that...you really shouldnt be...For the same price wouldnt you want something thats catchy and has some meaning. Ya Im sure there are some of you a very small few who the lyrics that come out of most mainstream rappers are relevant to your life, so you feel a connection with that kind of music. But again this is a very small few, shit I only see these kinds of fans as being actual gangstas or other rappers. I know most of you dont pop crystal often or go to the club and leave with like "10 bitches" (I didnt use bitches in a derogatory term, you did", 40yr old virgin With that said until we change are spending habits on more meaningful rap than mainstream rap is just going to keep getting worse. And I dont know about you a lot of these rappers are so phony, T-pain is talking about going to the bar and leaving with the bartender...(ya right did he have a paper bag over his face? Trust me good looking bartenders are hit on 1000x a night and chances are they wont be going home with someone who looks like they should of played the role in alien vs. predator to save makeup costs.
