Rawk

I have a problem, best illustrated by the first few songs to pop up on my mp3 player:

1. Fela Kuti & Afrika 70 - Zombie
2. Louis Armstrong - West End Blues
3. John Scofield - Let's Go Get Stoned
4. Sting - Valpariso
5. Regina Spektor - Summer in the City
6. Sage Francis - Escape Artist

etc... I need to find me some good rawk. Rattle my balls, Radio Mute

It goes to hell after the first two, that's for sure.

He's good, but it's still a major drop-off after the first two....especially the 2nd.

what kind of rock are you looking for? any particular style?

i'll just spit out a few personal favourite rock discs for now i guess...

queens of the stone age - era vulgaris - my favourite by the band but all their albums are great in my ears.
kyuss - ...and the circus leaves town - it's what josh homme was doing before QOTSA
faith no more - angel dust - I'M SOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY!! !!!!!!!!! (it'll make sense once you reach the end)
tomahawk - mit gas - it just fucking rocks
clutch - jam room - southern fried stoner rock (i think they might have been sober by this point though)
monster magnet - dopes to infinity - stoner rock at it's finest
black sabbath - volume 4 - just skip 'changes' and 'FX'
jane's addiction - nothing's shocking - still sounds fresh almost 20 years later.
nebula - to the center - more stoner rock from the desert. you WILL like the stoner rock.
secret chiefs 3 - book M - not really rock but it still freaking rocks

a few canadian discs you might be lucky enough to score in OT
sianspheric - somnium - shoegazing space outs galore
gandharvas - sold for a smile - like canada's answer to jane's addiction without sounding like a rip-off
glueleg - heroic doses - a metal band with a horn section that covers king crimson, a spiderman theme, and has a song about farts all on the same disc

that should keep you busy for a little while at least

True. I was pleased to find that that came up in random... one of the gems of the Great American Songbook, that one is.

Yeah, I'm totally down with stoner rock. Anything Josh Homme has touched I own, and the Clutch I've been buying up ferociously (Still waiting for them to up the ante after Blast Tyrant). I'm current with everything quoted but those last six, so awesome!

In terms of what I was thinking was some upbeat, fist pumping, crotch thrusting rock music. In keeping with the QOTSA vein, like, Eagles of Death Metal? Heavy is good, but not neccessary.

I guess "rawk" is rock, but Fela Kuti rocks. I just simply concur with Satch on this one.

I saw Sco about a year and a half ago in Seoul at the Sejeong Arts Centre while promoting his Ray Charles tribute album. It was a stellar show, but the album itself was lacklustre.

That's the way it goes, sometimes. I would give an arm and a leg to see a Sco show. As for Fela Kuti, Tony Allen grooves, but I'm lookin for rawk. If I want groove, I can always slap on some Tower of Power, Buddy Rich Big Band, anything with Gadd in it. Presently, I want something dumber.

You could try this one:

Flower Tavellin' Band - Satori

It's a bit like a Japanese version of Black Sabbath, or Zeppelin in their dumber moments. A bit dated, but great fun nonetheless. Guitarist Hideki Ishima is no slouch.
