How about some Prince?
Recently been getting into him, some mighty fine tunes.

I STILL haven't listened to any Prince album completely, I've always wanted to check out Purple Rain, but I never got around actually doing it.

I think Madonna is a great pop artist, she really reinvents herself on every record. And Michael Jackson should be mentioned too, at least his 80s and early 90s records.

I concur on the Michael Jackson, except his 90s material. Late 70s, early 80s, and even in the Jackson 5, some good stuff. You can have your Madonna.

I love the Jackson 5, don't care for anything else that he's been involved in.

He...Who Drops Knowledge
|
Last I looked the thread asked for Great Pop Songwriters.
In Madonna's case....almost all her best selling songs were written by others....it's when she caught on that the real money is in publishing that she started writing her own songs, which lead to lower sales. What Madonna happens to be is one of the best at marketing/business....in that regard very few musicians in the history of music are in her league.
With her latest incarnation of the cult of Kabbalah high priestess/marketer and motherly children's books....she now even found a way to do the reverse of the Virgin/Whore bit.
Only Madonna could find a way to get someone into signing her to a $120 million record deal at the age of 49....keep in mind, she still owes Warners another record and yet another Greatest Hits and her record sales have been going down with every release....she will be in her mid-50's when the new contract starts. P.T. Barnum gives her a shout out from the grave.
Berry Gordy and several of those I mentioned above wrote the Jackson 5's songs.
In the case of the pedophile....he Jumped the Shark after Thriller....although I have never liked anything he did since Off the Wall.

You don't dig "Billie Jean", "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", etc?
