More proof that MTV is full of stupid people.

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/158...e_pilots.jhtml

Funny, this band sounds every bit as derivative as unoriginal as they did in the early 90's, when they showed up two hours late to the party and hid the Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden CD's in the front of their jeans so fellow partiers couldn't tell for sure who they were biting.

This is what happens when the radio really starts to suck and people continue to listen to it out of habit. You wake up one day and you realize STP was not as bad as My Chemical Romance so all of a sudden you were wrong about them. Or something equally asinine.

well they've got to pimp out the reunion. and just like all the decadent crap from the 80s reared its ugly head again over recent years it's only a matter of time before the 90s roll around again.

while core was horribly derivative i think they did stretch out on subsequent albums. they were definitely more of pop band than their contemporaries but i still think their 2nd and 3rd discs were decent for radio rock of the day. the 4th album was back to core and i only listened to their 5th album once. hell 'talk show' was better than the 5th STP disc. i think the major issue concerning STP was that they were a straight ahead rock band that got lumped into the grunge movement because they didn't poof their hair. nothing they did after that first disc seemed capable of changing that. it's not like the deleo brothers tried to hide their mainstream influences in interviews.

vasoline still kicks ass. in fact i'm listening to it now

Good call. Really dug The AofE back in the day. The only thing with Kearns though is that all he hears is ugly.

I was referring to the critic who was admittedly too much of a pussy to admit he liked the band 15 years ago. If you think they're good of course you should say it. He trashed them for years because it was the in thing to do and then admitted it in his column. Total loser

Me, I actually tried to get into them and failed. There are some songs on Core I like and one or two on another album (whatever had "Interstate Love Song"), and that was it for me.

I have a boll weevil as a pet.

Not sure about another offshoot band, but Limblifter indeed had some cool tunes.

I didn't always switch off STP when they came on the radio.

VR is another story. Just kind of boring.
