I use Winamp 5.35 in classic skin mode. Never had any problems, and I can't even tell the difference from the Winamp at around '99 when I started collecting mp3s, apart from that newer Winamp versions also play video files. I use WMP and Real Player for other videos that won't play on Winamp. And I have that FLV Player for all those YouTube videos.
Music-wise I'm all Winamp though.

Well, I downloaded itunes version 7 and winamp version 5.5 to compare both. Itunes is ok but I found a lot of limitations for me. On the other case, loved winamp. You can adjust almost everything for your preference, and yes as Rancho said, the classic skin mode is as heavy as a feather. From now on I'm sticking with it.

i'm surprised you found limitations with itunes. kind of curious to know what they are. i know i found winamp to be a lot more straight forward, itunes required some tweaking and patience when i switched over.

Maybe I didn't take the time as you say, but mostly I found problems on managing my music folders. I like to manage my folders the way they are exactly on my local disk, and couldnt' find an option to do that. The second thing I can remember right now is that I couldn't drag and drop a folder from the windows explorer to it and be able to listen to it.

I'm pretty sure it may be a very complete program when you now how to use it, the problem is that I'm lazy .

yeah those are valid gripes heheh

the organization one uses reverse logic. basically there's an option to 'keep itunes music folder organized' you have to unselect it in order to maintain your own personal setup.

dragging and dropping folders doesn't work but you can 'add a folder to the library', it works but it's an extra step. i'll admit this is one aspect winamp gets right.

I have heard of foobar but it's been years ago. I see it supports mpc, wavpack and a couple others that most players won't. I'm gonna have to look into this.

I use itunes for my ipod, but I don't use it as a media player. I've been using foobar for awhile and I like it a lot.

As I said before I'm really trying to make this switch from itunes to foobar but I don't have the time to tweak it.

Is there a good place on the net to get skins or the equivalent for foobar?
