I'm not understanding this reason to hate nu metal. Hell I don't even know what it sounds like. If these are nu metal

Quote:
Sepeltura - Roots
Soulfly (The First One)
The disgusting work of Dry Kill Logic
Disturbed (I just gagged)
Mudvayne - LD50
Nonpoint?
Nothingface
Sevendust (self titled and Home)
Early Slipknot
Taproot

Early Slipknot is the best and what's wrong with Slipknot anyway? Sevendust, Taproot, Mudvayne, and I don't know what the others sounds like to much, but they can go f&*# themselves for becomming "main stream" metal.

Basically what I'm looking for is the hardest thing imaginable, with lots and lots of screaming and anger. I like the repetitive aspect of Coal Chamber's better songs (El Cu Cuy rocks, Loco, and some others), but that's it.

I just listened to some Meshuggah and they fricking rock, I'm definitely buying all their albums.

There are several more threads which should be of interest in the metal forum.

Good call on Meshuggah, I saw and met them here in Toronto, incredible. The thing with Nu Metal is that there were a few good bands that came out of the scene and then the whole genre got picked up by majors and it was pure over kill. I believe that the deftones and Korn had a very unique and credible sound on their hands, I still like the first 2 Korn albums and they definitely got people interested in heavy music again. But as we all know Crazy town, disturbed KITTIE then this cool new genre became homogenised. Its funny I was excited about Korn when I started High School, which was ..1996 ..God I'm old, and when I finished I never wanted to here another new metal song again. The joke back then was that Slipknot was just limp bizkit and korn in one band with masks on. They were a joke, but they changed up their sound and managed to move on.

Fuck show me more things like meshuggah, I'm not looking for something that's fast as hell. Slow with a good rythm is better.
