knoxville was 3 1/2 hours from where I lived in Clarksville...that's why I never went to see Sonny Rollins back in 2006 when he was in Knoxville and other than my band Equinox, I know nothing of East Tennessee or its Melungeons.

maybe mpittman should've gotten tickets for the show here in birmingham, it would be about the same amount of time to drive here and you'd have one more person (that's if you were around Charlotte, but you're probably not)

Hell, on your way, just sweep down to Columbia, SC and pick up Michael Keaton and while you're at it, maybe go on down the road to Savannah, GA and grab Seba (that's if he's not back in Delaware). I'm sure that'd be fun!

I reside about 40 miles South of Raleigh near Fuquay Varina, NC. (Good luck pronouncing that without asking a local .)

Course if we had an official, "Arrange a Ride to a Concert" thread these things could have been worked out ahead of time.

I was interested to see what the Tom Waits tickets are going for now that all the events have sold out and it looks like an average of $700 a piece. I payed $85.

The promoters of this series have gone some extra effort to combat the scalper sites and seem to have done a pretty good job. Here is an article explaining.

I'm not sure that there is a way around this. If you buy a ticket from a scalper site for a Tom Wait's show you will be spending money on nothing. There are no paper tickets. Unless the site is going to give you the credit card used to buy the tickets and a fake picture ID that goes with the card.

Few qway Var eena.

The funny thing, is when you dial 411 for a phone number and tell the computer Fuquay Varina it doesn't except the pronunciation. They have it wrong. More like

Foo qua Var iina.

Makes things difficult sometimes.

isn't it technically fuquay-varina? forget how to pronounce it...the story of how sippihaw (its original native-american name before the caucasians arrived) becomes fuquay-varina is goofy as you can get.

of course, it being da south....you know the civil war is involved.
