Oh ok, I was confused more about the peon part than the Oregon/Maine part.

I haven't heard Erin McKeown, but I've heard her name thrown around in conversations previously. She's also playing. Anyone heard/heard of her and can comment? I don't even know what her "genre" is.

It was after I posted that and realized how good of a lineup it was....that I decided to actually check WTF? the peon sent me in more detail.

As in Cecil, Ornette and Berne all in Portland as in Maine and at one time.

To put it another way....Cecil Taylor has performed once in Maine and that was back on 10-20-90.

to paraphrase

Something is rotten in the state of Maine!

Cecil, Ornette, and Tim Berne as close as Portland...even though I'm seeing Ornette in a week, I would drive up to see that if there were a way to make the powers that be understand why it was worth it.

Now the younger Satchmo (yes, Satchmo was once young!) has to say now this is what Satchmo is talking about....Road Trip, BABY!

Even taking into account I must have lived in every city in the world because of the Parental....You think Satchmo was able to see all those groups/musicians because they were playing in my bedroom?

Now the parental part of Satchmo isn't condoning Road Trips without any parental approval if you're young enough to still need it.

Yeah...that would be the issue, in this situation. I even have friends who would go, or at least I'm sure they would if I was up for driving (I would be). Oh, well. I'll see Cecil one day...

I can't believe I missed that show just because I'm not 21. January can't come soon enough...
